Amy searched high and low for a wedding ring that felt just right. Everything she found was either too plain, too chunky, or clashed with her engagement ring. So she carved her own.

What made you decide to carve your own wedding rings?
I looked both online and in shops and had trouble finding a ring. They were all too plain, too thick and it was hard to match the metal to my engagement ring. I didn’t want anything which overshadowed my engagement ring, which has a thinner band.
After I found The Workbench, I knew I could carve something that fit perfectly with my ring, and could make it as textured as I wanted. I could see exactly how it was going to look before it was cast so knew it would work well and fit comfortably.
Tell us about the design of your rings?
My engagement ring is an oval shape, so I was able to create a little divot for it to nestle in comfortably. I also wanted to make sure it was chunky and textured. I remember my Mum had a hammered wedding band which smoothed out over time, so I wanted to ensure it would have some texture throughout the years.
The little diamond was a bonus! I love a star setting and didn’t have any jewellery set like that, so jumped on it. I offset the diamond from the main stone on my engagement ring so it adds a little extra twinkle.
What does wearing a ring you’ve designed and created yourself mean to you?
I just love it! I keep looking at it haha! It’s just nice to say ‘I did this’ and be proud it turned out so well.
I love that it’s completely unique to our marriage and our story, and feel like I would have been disappointed if I’d just bought one – this feels more like my ring.
