Set The Scene

Take it on your staycay, carve out some time for yourself or get crafty with friends. Put on your favourite playlist and let’s begin – a glass of wine recommended but not necessary.

Ring Size

If you know your ring size, brilliant! Just select it from the drop down menu and we will send you your wax already sized.

Not sure about your ring size? Want to gift the kit and don’t know their size? We have a few options to make ordering stress free.

When purchasing your kit select the ‘size it yourself’ option. When you come to carve your wax you will find a handy ‘how to size your wax’ video in our online tutorials.

All kits come with ring sizers which you can use to check your ring size. You will be asked to add your size to the ring portal when you submit your carved ring so we can perfect it in the workshop.

Or if you prefer you can order a ring sizer from our website before purchasing your box.

Tutorials, Tools
& Techniques

Your kit includes materials, tools and online video tutorials with lots of tips and techniques to help you make the best ring possible. We have purposely removed fiddly, ineffective metal files that risk breaking your wax. Instead, we have chosen a precision craft knife and fabric-backed sandpaper which are gentle, easy to use and really effective at shaping and buffing your wax blank into your desired shape.

Post Your Wax Ring

Once you have finished your wax ring design, it’s time to head to the Ring Portal and submit your ring to the Workbench workshop.

You will need your kit code to submit your ring so make sure to keep the box safe or make a note. You will be taken through a short step-by-step process that lets us know how you would like your ring polished and most importantly add your delivery details for your finished ring.

At this point, you will also be provided with the address to return your carved wax. Then all you need to do is box it up and pop in the pre-paid jiffy (UK only) and send it back to our workshop, where we work our jewellery wizardry!

UK postage is included. It’s so exciting to know these rings are made all over the globe but if you are making outside of the UK, you need to arrange overseas payment of the wax to our studio.

Don’t forget if you love your second wax, you can send this in too!

Ring Casting

Your rings go through an incredible process called lost wax casting. This is an ancient method which is widely used within the jewellery industry. Casting means a mould is made around each wax shape, with a little hole in, where the wax is warmed up and melted out. This leaves an exact, hollow shape of the wax ring you have created – it picks up every tiny detail. The mould is then filled with molten metal, which cools and solidifies. After each ring is cast, the mould crumbles away, meaning that these rings are literally one of a kind!

When it’s back in the workshop, we file, size and polish each ring to your exact specification. We work with artisan engravers and setters in the heart of Hatton Garden (London’s iconic jewellery quarter) to add that extra finesse.

Special Delivery!

Your one-of-a-kind ring is ready and will be delivered to your door using a safe and secure tracked and signed for service.
