How We Work It Out
When you request a quote for 9ct, 14ct or 18ct solid gold (or platinum), we start by weighing your carved wax ring once it’s returned to us. This gives us the exact weight of your design, which we then use to calculate the amount of metal required.
That weight of the wax is multiplied by the current market price per gram of your chosen metal. Gold and platinum prices fluctuate daily, so your quote reflects the real-time value at the point of casting.
We then add the cost of casting, finishing, and polishing to give you a final price. Because each piece is totally unique, we can’t quote in advance without your wax.
Why Is Gold So Much More?
Gold and platinum are rare, high-value metals. They cost significantly more to source, and they also require specialist handling. On top of this, the price per gram increases with purity—so 18ct gold is more expensive than 9ct, for example. Platinum, being denser and more challenging to work with, also comes at a premium.
