Karen & Jacob’s rings are a perfect example of how much meaning can be held in something so simple.
Made using our Wedding Band Kit and crafted in 9ct yellow gold, they’ve added birthstones, each other’s handwriting and their fingerprints, three deeply personal details, all captured in 2 beautiful forever rings.
What made you decide to carve your own wedding rings?
The ring carving was my (Karens) idea initially but my now husband was the one that had decided on what to engrave on the inside. We wanted something that represented us and our love. I think it’s an amazing feeling to look down at our rings and say “wow we made that together!”
Tell us about the design of your rings?
For the actual carving of the ring, I wanted to have spots for each of our birthstones on each side so I made 2 flat sides. One has a moonstone for June and a garnet for January. Then I have his ring finger fingerprint on it and inside, in his handwriting, it says “I ❤️ you.”
Then for his he wanted a thicker band since his plan was to wear it at work and didnt want it to be too thin. He didnt want any of the engravings on the outside in case they got scratched, so on the inside of his is my ring finger fingerprint and “I l❤️ve you” in my handwriting.
What does wearing a ring you’ve designed and created yourself mean to you?
It’s so cool to say, “we made that” and to have our fingerprints and a message of love on them. The only downside is that if I were to lose it then it would truly be irreplaceable but that is also amazing.
