Ring Carving Refill

£89.00

Have you caught the ring carving bug?! Our refill packs let you carry on carving using all the specialist tools and online video tutorials from your original kit purchase to make more rings.

This is not a ring carving kit and therefore instructions, online tutorial codes, a ring sizer, a craft knife, and a thimble are not included with this purchase. (Without these essential items this craft can quickly become dangerous and affect the final ring result.)

Your kit includes:

  •  2 wax ring forms (You can make up to 2 new rings with this kit, however, there will be an additional fee for the second ring.)
  • 2 grades of sandpaper
  • Ring box and envelope for the safe return of your wax ring to our workshop

Your refill kit is valid for 1 year from purchase. You must be 18 or over to purchase or use this product.

Please note, in order to purchase a refill pack, we will require your original kit code which can be found on your original kit conformation email.

Ring Size

For smaller ring sizes your wax will always arrive as a size “I” and we will resize your finished wax once it arrives back at our workshop. Rings larger than a size U will be charged a £25 silver fee to cover the additional metal required for casting.

Wax Width

There are a variety of different wax widths for you to choose from (not to be confused with ring size, which is your finger measurement, or ring depth). The wax width refers to the space your ring takes up on your finger.

Remember, these are your maximum starting widths. You can always carve a slimmer design if you really want to…you’re the designer after all.

Our standard wax is 5mm wide, one has a square profile so you have more height to create your dream ring and the second is round in profile for creating speedy band designs.

This kit includes 2 waxes (practice makes perfect!)

This is our skinniest wax, at 2.8mm, allowing you to create simple stacking ring designs. Your kit includes 4 waxes (3 practice waxes) with a round profile for creating speedy band designs. As the wax is thinner, it can only accommodate gemstones up to 1.5mm and we are not able to offer star settings or professional engraving. If you would like more options why not choose from one of our other kits?

Our Metals

We proudly cast our rings in 100% solid recycled 925 silver and have done so ever since we launched in 2014. Using our in-house recycled bullion reduces the demand on the planet for mining these precious metals. Our silver contains no nickel.

You can further personalise your design by choosing between a shiny or matte finish, shown in the examples above.

We use a triple coating of gold to plate your rings to ensure a high-quality finish while offering an affordable alternative to solid gold. The base metal is always silver.

Rose gold is an alloy made from a combination of pure gold and copper along with a few other metals. This blend creates a beautiful rosy hue. We proudly cast our rings in 100% solid recycled gold and have done so ever since we launched in 2014. Using our in-house recycled bullion reduces the demand on the planet for mining these precious metals. Our solid gold rings are hallmarked for authenticity.

We cast in 9ct and 18ct gold which is most common in the UK, but we now also offer 14ct gold which is a favourite with our friends in America.

There are 3 main differences between 9ct, 14ct & 18ct gold. These are colour, price and durability. 9ct gold contains 37.5% pure gold while 18ct has 75% pure gold content. This not only effects the price but also the colour. 9ct gold has a paler, cooler hue while 18ct gold has a much richer, deeper gold tone and 14ct gold sits in the middle. Even though 18ct has more gold, which a softer metal it is actually more durable in the long term, making it the most popular choice for wedding bands.

For a forever gold finish, you can request a quote for solid recycled 9ct/ 14ct/ 18ct gold or platinum. You can request a precious metal quote via the ring portal. The quote is based on the ring size and thickness of your wax ring. We are unable to provide quotes for rings that have not been carved and sent back to us. But to give you an idea, a small 9ct solid gold stacking ring in the smallest ring size starts from an additional £350. There is no commitment to go ahead with your quote, you can choose to keep your ring silver or opt for gold plated options.

If making a wedding band you must match the ct of the engagement ring to avoid one ring scratching the other.

Professional Engraving

Whether it’s a special date, a loved one’s initials, a secret message or your family crest, engraving is a lovely way to add that extra personal touch to your design. You can choose to add this on now or later on during the portal.

We work with artisan engravers in the heart of Hatton Garden (London’s iconic jewellery quarter) to add that extra finesse to your rings.

Characters 4-6 (£55)
Characters 7-8 (£65)

Monograming has a rich and fascinating history, with roots dating back to ancient Egypt and Greece. A monogram may be a sentimental reminder of a loved one, a relationship or connection. For others, a monogram may be a statement of personal identity and style. Design your own or transform a font you love into your own monogram for £55 extra. (2-3 letters)

A seal is always engraved in reverse and is much deeper than traditional two dimensional hand engravings with a third or fourth dimension added to make the seal deeper and finer. This takes the Master Engraver much more time to achieve and is normally engraved by more mature hand engravers. Historically these rings were pressed into hot wax to seal letters so the receiver could be assured of authenticity. Whether you want to continue your family crest or design your own our pricing for deep seal engraving costs £650.

One of our favourite engraving styles and by far the most personal. Simply write your engraving on a piece of paper, take a photo and our master engraver will copy it exactly. Everyone’s handwriting is unique like a fingerprint and beautiful in their own way. We love how these rings in years to come will show not only a special meaning but be a lasting reminder of the person themselves. A really great choice for rings celebrating love, friendship and milestones.
